Who We Are

Laurence Graham

MBA, ATP, FRAeS

Laurence assumes the mantle of founding member at LeadWright Consulting, embodying a career trajectory encompassing tenure as an airline pilot and Chief Standards Pilot within a prominent international carrier. Moreover, he brings to the forefront his role as Director of Professional Standards in a division of the International Federation of Airline Pilots (IFALPA), underscoring his commitment to elevating industry standards. Complementing his aviation acumen, Laurence holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the esteemed Henley Business School at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. He was awarded a Royal Aeronautical Society, United Kingdom (FRAeS) Fellowship in 2020.

Laurence piloted a diverse array of aircraft, including the Boeing 747-400, Boeing 737-800, and Airbus A350, A340, and A330 models. With a career spanning four decades, he remains steadfast in his commitment to leveraging his extensive management, leadership, and flight safety expertise to effectuate tangible enhancements in aviation industry standards and performance.

Wendy Santilhano

MPhil, MA, BSocSci, ATP

Wendy, drawing from her extensive tenure as a pilot with an ICAO-accredited airline, embarked on a journey to investigate the support mechanisms available to high-functioning individuals, notably pilots, in preserving their mental and physical well-being while sustaining peak performance. Over the past decade, her dedicated inquiry has culminated in establishing a peer support programme in South Africa, active participation in global dialogues concerning pilot well-being, and rigorous research into the impact of peer support on mental health and well-being within the aviation sector.

Acknowledging the formidable obstacles pilots encounter in accessing mental health assistance, Wendy pursued advanced studies in Leadership Coaching, focusing on fostering emotionally secure solutions. Armed with this specialised knowledge, she extends her guidance to pilots, other leaders and senior executives navigating similar emotional challenges. Through her unwavering engagement in international initiatives, Wendy remains steadfast  to cultivating an emotionally resilient aviation environment.

Guy Lloyd

BSocSci, EASA, SA, & UK ATP

Guy assumes the pivotal roles of airline pilot and Senior Training Captain within an ICAO-accredited international airline, embodying a wealth of experience and expertise in aviation operations and flight training.

Holding a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Public Administration, Guy's multifaceted career spans over three decades of dedicated involvement in flying instruction and testing. His proficiency extends to serving as a Flight Instructor and Flight Examiner across Boeing and Airbus aircraft platforms, underscoring his comprehensive command of aviation training methodologies.

With an aviation tenure exceeding 35 years, Guy's flying repertoire encompasses various aircraft, including the Boeing 737 Series, Boeing 767, Boeing 747-400/-300/-200 series, Airbus A330, and Airbus A320. His profound appreciation for the transformative impact of aviation on personal development propels his unwavering commitment to mentorship and knowledge dissemination as he endeavours to cultivate the next generation of aviation leaders.

Cobus Toerien

BMil, Av SM & AI, ATP

Cobus brings a wealth of expertise from his roles as a former Colonel and Officer Commanding an advanced Airforce Fighter Squadron, coupled with his tenure as a pilot within an ICAO-accredited airline. With extensive involvement in flight safety spanning military and civil aviation domains, Cobus has assumed pivotal responsibilities as a Safety Manager for various esteemed organisations, including a prominent international airline and an international business school.

Cobus holds a B Military degree from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, complemented by Safety Management and Accident Investigation qualifications from the University of Southern California (USC), USA. He is actively engaged in human factor studies and development and lectures on an international platform. His serves on the executive board of an IFALPA branch and chairs numerous committees. Cobus's profound expertise and experience continue to drive advancements within the industry.

Railton Simmonds

ATP, ICAO Inst, AI, Test Pilot,  Facilitator

Railton boasts an illustrious 46-year career in aviation, beginning as an Aircraft Instrument Technician at an international airline, where he earned recognition for exceptional achievement. He transitioned into roles including Senior Instructor Avionics and Flight Engineer Officer Instructor, imparting expertise on various aircraft variants. Notably, he played a pivotal role in introducing the Boeing 747-400 to major ICAO-accredited airlines and served as Technical Manager, Flight Operations for Boeing 747-400, Boeing 737-800, and Boeing 767-200.

Railton's journey culminated in becoming an airline pilot, training on and obtaining licenses across a spectrum of aircraft, including Airbus A350/A340/A330 and Boeing 747. With a passion for imparting knowledge, he shares his extensive experience to uplift individuals and organisations, representing a cornerstone in aviation excellence and safety. With decades of aviation expertise, leadership, and safety excellence, Railton adds considerable value to the LeadWright Group.
